The picture, taken by Ernest in about 1900, shows Caroline at the age of about 31.
Not much information on Caroline’s life, though the pages on her writing are well developed. She studied at The Mount School in York 1883-86, and from their archivist I learn that she studied music and singing in Stuttgart in 1888-90; she also attended the Royal College of Music. She had Merchant Navy papers – probably she did some time as cabin staff as a way of getting cheap travel.
